To the Real Estate Agents out there – How low will prices have to go before you will call it a crash?

Jewles asked:

Right now the Real Estate Agents I know that are still in the business are still saying it’s a great time to buy and that if you don’t buy now then you will miss the boat. I think that what Real Estate Agents say is a great indicater of where the market is at. So once they start accepting that there was a huge bubble then sellers that are holding out now will start walking away from their mortgages or sell at losses. Then the prices can adjust and might even fall below where they are supposed to be.

Natural menopause support – a flash of genius

Filed under: Financial Services — bloggist @ 3:00 pm

The menopause years can often be quite a difficult phase for women. Here at Specialist Supplements, we have designed a fantastic product especially for women, which provides herbal support during the menopause – MENOstage. This herbal menopausal combination provides nine beneficial nutrients to supplement the daily diet and thereby support a women’s hormonal balance. MENOstage has been rated as a 5-star product by our clients and is a must-try!

What is the menopause?

Menopause is the depletion of a woman’s eggs (ova) and the complete cessation of the menstrual cycle. Menopause indicates the end of a woman’s fertility and reproductive years.

It takes place in women usually around the age of 45 – 50. Menopause transition involves fluctuating ovarian function and happens somewhere between 2 to 8 years before menopause and up to 1 year after the very last menstrual cycle.

Menopause is simply a part of maturing for every woman. As it comes on, the cyclical production of estradiol and progesterone by the ovaries reduces and becomes less stable. Subsequent to menopause, the ovaries continue to create low levels of estrogen and androgens, as do the adrenal glands.

Menopause that occurs before the age of 40 is considered premature and is often a result of surgery or other medical intervention. Menopause usually happens naturally, but can be induced by certain types of surgery, e.g. hysterectomy (called surgical menopause), chemotherapy and pelvic radiation therapy. It can also be induced by ovarian failure from cancer therapy, such as chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Smoking has also been found to induce menopause an average of 2 years earlier than it would in non-smokers.

The menopause isn’t a disease, but is certainly a normal part of maturing, which simply leads to many varied signs and symptoms.

What are some of the symptoms of menopause?

Menopause is a natural life process for all women. Unfortunately, it is accompanied by several symptoms that can be a little alarming. Learning to identify those symptoms, however, is the preliminary step to learning how to deal with this new stage in your life.

60% of women will go through the normal symptoms of menopause. All indicators and symptoms depend largely on fluctuation of hormone levels and the individual person’s capability to bear this kind of hormonal fluctuation.

Some examples of symptoms are hot flashes, loss of memory, anxiety and depression.  It is also linked to weight gain because it goes with aging and hormonal imbalance. Early menopause symptoms manifest themselves in the form of brittle bones, mood changes, heart disease and other difficulties. Drinking alcohol during menopause encourages anxiety and depression, which can be quite severe during this change.

Menopause involves hormonal changes in your body that may cause physical symptoms. As the ovaries stop producing female sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone), estrogen levels decrease over a period of years.

Menopause may also possibly lead to, for example, greater joint discomfort and may raise the chance of bone fractures. Women may also experience sexual dysfunction and a decreased libido.

Some symptoms will continue following the menopause period, even up until the end of a woman’s life. After menopause, a woman’s risk of heart disease and stroke increases.  However, it doesn’t have to be a dreaded curse of aging during which you can look forward only to hot flashes and hormonal mood swings. Menopause treatment is not meant to prevent the occurrence of menopause but rather to better deal it, so that it does not unnecessarily disrupt your life.

How might you deal with menopause?

Menopause is often referred to as the “change of life”. This phrase stresses the simple fact that your body goes through a high amount of change during the transition, including (for example) changing shape and increasing size.

It is key to note that menopause is a natural and normal condition, which women experience as they age. It can have many aspects and there’s no one best way to prepare for, or experience, it. It is a phase where women undergo some important and pronounced changes, both mentally and physically.

Women are increasingly training for, and holding jobs in, many areas once reserved for men. Women may therefore be concerned about their menopause symptoms if they don’t know what they are and how they can be managed.

For instance, hot flashes may interrupt sleep and frequent awakenings can cause next-day fatigue. It may occur several times a day or only once a week. It may occur a few times a month or several times a day, depending on the woman. Menopause is a natural part of aging, but definitely brings with it a variety of symptoms, which can be challenging.

Menopause, itself, doesn’t require treatment, but women often want to treat some symptoms and decrease their risk of long-term medical conditions, such as heart disease and osteoporosis, that are more common after menopause.

Menopause can negatively affect a woman’s life and the lives of those around her; but that needn’t be the case. Hormone replacement therapy can be used, but risks are involved. Vitamin and herb remedies are often used to support the symptoms of menopause. Therefore, relief does not have to come from synthetic therapies. Remedies may be as simple as dietary or activity changes. Therefore, the several menopause symptoms can now be treated without people necessarily experiencing any side effects. Hoorah!

Rice protein – what’s the scoop?

Filed under: Financial Services — bloggist @ 1:16 pm

OUR RICE PROTEIN POWDER

Here at Specialist Supplements, we have added a fantastic new, great-tasting rice protein powder to our vegan and dairy-free range! It is a highly soluble, powdered formula for an extra protein boost – 70% protein, 8% fibre and only 5% fat!

Best of all, it is dairy and gluten free, which makes it suitable for people with sensitive stomachs and those who suffer from celiac disease and dairy allergies.

ABOUT RICE PROTEIN

You are probably used to thinking of rice as a source of carbohydrates, so you might be surprised to hear that it is actually a great source of vegetable protein! This is a largely unknown fact outside of the vegan, vegetarian and dairy-free communities, for the reasons described below.

One of rice protein’s most defining qualities is that it hypoallergenic – in other words, it is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. This may not sound like a big deal, but it makes it a perfect dietary supplement for people with food allergies (including celiacs), because it is free of gluten, dairy, lactose, wheat, soy and most other known allergens.

Protein is a critical for a balanced diet, but it is often difficult to find high-protein foods that are nutritionally balanced. Vegans and vegetarians, in particular, face a daily challenge when it comes to making sure that they get enough protein in their diet, so this is a perfect protein alternative to meat products or dairy-based protein powders.

Rice protein is also very easy for the body to digest and it has a high nutritional value. Even better, it is usually much cheaper than whey or soy protein!

The bottom line? There are loads of potential benefits to rice protein and anyone wanting to supplement protein into their diet should really try it out.

QUALITIES

Benefits of rice protein

Unlike whey powder (made from dairy and soy, which can causes digestive problems for some) rice protein is so gentle that not only is it suitable for people with food allergies, but it has even been used for tube-feeding infants, the elderly and the severely ill.

The fact that it is hypoallergenic and an easily digestible source of protein, means that it unlikely to cause any kind of irritation (particularly in the digestive tract) and is easy on those with impaired gallbladder function.

It is also a perfect supplement for bodybuilders, vegans and vegetarians (as mentioned above) and anyone suffering from gastrointestinal problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

How is rice protein made?

Rice protein is obtained from a careful distillation of the protein from (usually brown) rice. The rice is treated with enzymes that cause the carbohydrates to separate from the proteins. No acids, bases, chemicals or animal products are used in this process.

How does it taste?

Well, it has a sweet, mild and pleasant flavour similar to that of rice pudding (think back to your childhood!). This means that it can easily be added to drinks, sprinkled over cereals and yogurt, and/or added to cooked dishes to boost protein content without adding fat or loads of calories.

Nutritional content

Rice protein is considered to be a “complete” protein, which means that it includes both essential amino acids and non-essential amino acids, which are both important for the physiological processes of our body – in fact, it contains all 9 essential amino acids.

It is also a natural source of fibre and vitamins B and E. It is low in fat, cholesterol, sugar and sodium.

Organic Tomato Gardening

Filed under: Financial Services — bloggist @ 3:12 pm

Envision sinking your pearly white’s into a home picked, beautifully ripe, delicious and organically grown tomato, with all the juice running down your chin. Yummy!

With organic tomato gardening, you can leave behind those shop-bought tomatoes with tough skins, and bland, pale flesh. When tomatoes are home grown organically and therefore are naturally ripened, it is easy to pluck a tomato off your own plant and eat it without even washing it to get rid of chemical compounds.

In recent times everyone is becoming increasingly conscious and concerned about the importance of their health and wellbeing. Because of this world-wide change in awareness, a growing number of people right around the globe are choosing to explore the alternative of growing their very own organic veg and fruits, including organic tomato gardening. Tomatoes will grow in virtually any kind of soil and after the frosts are over.

Organic tomato gardening in your backyard is incredibly straightforward:

First decide where you want to place your tomato bed, making sure it is in a sunny position and away from trees and shrubs, which have a tendency to rob the soil of the nutrients you need for your crops. Tomatoes like six to eight hours of sun each day.

Second, dig over the ground and apply some well rotted compost and manure. If you don’t curently have any on hand, you can buy bags of compost and manure from your Garden Nursery. Rake over your garden bed and leave for a week or so.

Third is to choose which variety of tomato you want to grow. The small cocktail ones that do well in garden pots, or the plum shaped ones, or maybe even the big beefsteak types. There are plenty of varieties to choose from that are ideal for organic tomato gardening.

Furthermore, you will need a few garden stakes to support your plants as they grow. You can grow from seed or buy seedlings which will save you some time – that’s what I like to do.

After visiting your Garden Nursery to select the seedlings you need for your organic tomato gardening, the fourth step is to plant them out, sticking to the directions that come with the container. Usually you’d plant your tomatoes about two to two and a half feet apart and hammer in a stake alongside to support your plant as they grow heavy and laden with fruit.

Almost done – right now you need to water your plants in well, then stand back and admire your handiwork.

Be sure you keep the ground damp but not soggy and finally when the plants are about six weeks old, it is a good time to add some cow tea.

This is made by placing about a quarter of a bucketful of cow manure into an old used bucket, fill it up with water, stir and leave to “brew” for a week or two. Pour off about a quarter of the ‘tea’ right into a watering can, fill up with water and apply to the tomatoes.

You’ll be amazed at how well your tomatoes will love cow tea and respond. Stand back and await your first batch of organic tomatoes to ripen. Save the remainder of the cow tea to apply again in another two to three weeks, always diluting it, or water it into other garden beds.

My personal favorite tomato recipe is to toast some bread, spread with butter, then add slices of tomato and some freshly chopped basil. Season with some salt and pepper. Enjoy – this is simply delicious! Absolutely nothing is better than the fresh, full flavor of home grown tomatoes from organic tomato gardening.
